Hayley Bohnert, Associate
Because of her in-depth knowledge of patient rights and operational strategies, Hayley has been embedded multiple times with in-house legal departments during clients’ periods of transition. Her practice includes providing on-call risk and legal services to hospitals for urgent and emergent issues involving consent, patient safety, privacy, involuntary detention, discharge planning, and general hospital operations. This experience gives her an exceptionally broad understanding of risk and litigation.
Hayley has managed legal support for Behavioral Health programs at two of St. Louis’ largest healthcare systems, facilitating involuntary detentions and court-mandated treatments for psychiatric patients. She works with law enforcement, state agencies, and private providers to arrange guardianships and wardships, and has consulted on consent and end-of-life issues for patients unable to advocate for themselves. She has conducted over 100 contested hearings before Probate Courts in St. Louis City, St. Louis County, St. Charles County, Franklin County, Jefferson County and Crawford County.
Against claims of medical negligence, she has defended hospitals, long-term care centers, and senior living facilities, and she has successfully represented health care professionals with diverse specialties in disciplinary actions before the Missouri Board of Registration for the Healing Arts and the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation.
