Long Term Care
Claims filed against adult care facilities alleging negligence have steadily risen over the past thirty years as the demand for long-term care increases in an aging population. Data suggests that the rate of lawsuits is fairly consistent among all providers of these services, regardless of the overall quality of care offered. Falls and pressure ulcers are the most common precipitating factors, though neither is fully preventable. We provide aggressive representation for skilled nursing facilities, assisted living facilities, home health care, hospice, and long-term care community clients to resolve claims favorably and efficiently.
Our team has experience defending cases involving falls, pressure sores, and elopement, as well as the defense of Missouri and Illinois Nursing Home Act claims that form the basis of most long-term care litigation. In addition to our trial practice, we are also available to work with facility staff to develop risk management procedures to minimize exposure, and navigate actions filed by state regulatory bodies.
