Nicki is a trial lawyer concentrated on medical malpractice defense. She has tried jury cases to verdict as lead counsel on behalf of both hospitals and long-term care facilities, and she counts among her clients the largest hospital system in the St. Louis area, as well as one of the region’s most prominent providers of senior living and care services.

Having consulted with or defended all 36 of the specialized disciplines recognized by the American Board of Medical Specialties, as well as numerous subspecialties, Nicki has a broad perspective of modern healthcare. She is particularly consulted on issues related to capacity, independence, and geriatric medicine. Her understanding of how primary, secondary, and social care converge allows her to critically analyze the roles, responsibilities, and duties of each member of a healthcare team to assess competency, and liability if litigation follows. She is valued for her appreciation of subtleties in medical care and recordkeeping.

Because of her experience evaluating and litigating complex medical cases, Nicki is consulted on risk and operational issues within healthcare systems. She is often involved to help avert a crisis, but also coordinates with providers on root cause analysis and claim reviews to anticipate and prevent litigation. She provides on-call risk and legal services for two regional hospitals based in Missouri.
